What is taught in a Tae Kwon Do class?
Tae Kwon Do is a modern martial art, characterized by its fast high and spinning kicks. It is one of the most popular martial arts practiced world wide. It is also a summer Olympic sport. The use of kicking techniques distinguishes Tae Kwon Do from the other martial arts. The philosophy behind Tae Kwon Do emphasizes the use of the legs because they are the longest and strongest weapon a martial artist has. Kicks have the greatest potential to strike without retaliation. Tae Kwon Do develops strength, speed, balance, flexibility, and stamina. Tae Kwon Do allows students to quickly enhance in area of coordination, intrinsic motivation, self-defense, self-discipline, and personal enjoyment.
